In my locations, I have many that were once in West Prussia or Pommern that are now in Poland. I list both names like this for example: Chottschow, Kreis Lauenberg, Pommern (Choczewo, Wejherowo, Pomorskie, Poland)
That way, if I want to find the place on the map in Legacy, I can find it just by temporarily deleting the former location name. I prefer to do it this way instead of using the location notes. I have a website that also uses maps and I have made it a rule for myself not to enter a location till I can find it somewhere on a map such as Google Maps. It can be quite a challenge as often the German place names have interesting spelling when entered on Australian marriage and death registrations. Also finding out what the place is called now in Poland can sometimes take a while. But, if you have it, use it. All records should show the place name at the time of the event, regardless of where in the world it is. I like the idea of using the location notes to indicate what the place is called now.
