I do exactly as Ron suggests. I "attach" (my term) the JPG image file
to the source via the multimedia tab. Then in the text tab, I type in
the relevant sections of text. In the case of an obituary, I will
transcribe the entire obituary. In the case of a book, I transcribe
just the relevant paragraphs.

Another option, if you are lucky enough to own Adobe AcrobatPro, is:
    Scan the file in as JPG
    Covert it to PDF
    Open the PDF in AcrobatPro, and do: Use the Documents->OCR Text
Recognition->Recognize test using OCR
Then you could do a copy/paste from PDF to Legacy's text tab or to the
notes tab.
