That's what I use for scanning clear text, but sometimes it messes up too. It's faster to retype than scan and proofread in my opinion.
I know someone who swears by OCR and scans thousands of obituaries, OCR's them, then posts them to her website without proofing and I noticed they're full of errors. She's a speed reader so I think that's part of her proofreading problem. I can never send her a long email because ninety five percent of it is skipped. -----Original Message----- From: Jean Suplick [mailto:jean.supl...@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, December 10, 2010 7:50 PM To: LegacyUserGroup@LegacyUsers.com Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Copying Text into a Legacy Note I do exactly as Ron suggests. I "attach" (my term) the JPG image file to the source via the multimedia tab. Then in the text tab, I type in the relevant sections of text. In the case of an obituary, I will transcribe the entire obituary. In the case of a book, I transcribe just the relevant paragraphs. Another option, if you are lucky enough to own Adobe AcrobatPro, is: Scan the file in as JPG Covert it to PDF Open the PDF in AcrobatPro, and do: Use the Documents->OCR Text Recognition->Recognize test using OCR Then you could do a copy/paste from PDF to Legacy's text tab or to the notes tab.
