Before this thread gets really off course, Jane, the original poster with
the problem, is running Vista and not WIN7.

The only time I have seen this is a few times when I am on IE.

I run many 32 bit programs on this Windows 7 64 bit machine. But then I am
running with 3Gigs of RAM and is the ultimate version of Windows.

What version of Windows 7 are you running, Starter, Home Basic, Home
Premium, or Ultimate?

Also is this machine a Netbook?

Thanks,

Another thing I've noticed is that this happens to me more when I'm running
32-bit applications under Windows 7 64-bit. I've never had this happen with
64-bit applications so I'm thinking that the 32-bit applications just don't
run very well in Windows 64-bit.

As was said, this is a Windows 7 problem. I get this frequently. The best
thing to do is that if it shows at the top of the window that it is not
responding, do not click again or you will get the white screen and it
usually crashes. I wait for it to finish what it's doing because in most
cases it is responding, but Windows is taking too long. I don't bother
letting Windows check for solutions because it never finds one.

I have Legacy 7.4. Often, when I click something and it seems slow, I
click again and the screen goes dim. When that happens I an bit
allowed to quit or take any other action and I have to either wait for
a couple minutes till it clears up or end task in the Control Panel.
Is this something that every one puts up with, or am I the only lucky
one? Is there a fix?
