Linda, Regarding # 2 Legacy has a search feature which has many options amongst which is the ability to search the note fields for events, etc. I do not remember if this is included in the free version of Legacy. On the chance you have not downloaded it already, the free version may help you to decide if it will suit you. It was one of the many reasons I opted for Legacy...cannot understand why ANY genealogy program does not offer a free version or at least, a trial version.
