They had a father, someone even if not married. If you don't know the father, consider entering "Unknown" or use a made up pseudonym that will be meaningful to you. I imagine most of us have at least one ancestor who had children out of wedlock- so don't be too embarrassed about it. I have a couple ancestors who were thieves. <g>
