To add to Brian's *excellent* information -  I have all my options set
to "Don't Change What I Enter".  That way my O'Brien people keep the
correct capitalization of the surname as well as my locations such as
LaPorte.

When you need to edit Surnames or Locations, that needs to be done
through the appropriate Master List (View > Master Lists) after you
have the settings established in Options > Customize > Data Format.
