Because of this all sources exported from Legacy, and imported back into Legacy will be Basic Style Sources. In the outbound conversion to the GEDCOM the changes made make the linking of those sources to their original SourceWriter source impossible. When you then import that source it will become a new master source with associated source details where it is linked to individuals.
When you merge the imported person with the original Legacy cannot merge the now Basic Style Source with the original SourceWriter one so there will be a duplication with both the original SourceWriter style source and the imported Basic Style source linked to the individual." Brian, Please re-read my posts. As I stated, these are NOT SourceWriter sources. I more or less understand the complexities of SourceWriter import/export, but these have nothing to do with SourceWriter. They are Basic Sources; they were Basic Sources before the export into RootsMagic and I did absolutely nothing with them in RootsMagic. My question (well, it's more like a recommendation) is why doesn't Legacy take the lead in trying to improve this horrific problem with sources not transferring properly between programs? I realize it is a monumental task, but one little, itty bitty piece of it might involve offering an option to compare identical BASIC SOURCE NAMES and select which one(s) to keep on Manual Merge just like there are already options to select virtually every other piece of conflicting data we want to keep? That won't solve all the problems, but it would at least indicate an interest in moving forward toward a solution.
