As I said in my original post, I read the help file. If you re-read the section you quoted above you will see that no-where does it mention "Undo merge" or "Edit menu" (I did check under the Edit menu and saw no reference to undo merge by the way) The point is that the Undo Merge directions NEED to be in the help file or the back up is useless. For anyone else who may not get the "Undo merge" option in the edit menu, I saved the file I was working on with a new name, restored the original from a back up that was only a couple of hours old, then in split view I dragged the people I had newly edited in the current session into the restored file then merged them. It only took about 15 minutes and I had a "restored" file. (I had only edited three people.)It still would have been faster with the "Undo Merge", although having the directions in the help file wouldn't have helped in this instance with the missing "Undo Merge" selection. Now I have something to play around with in my sample file to figure that one out.
