How I do it is use one "Military Service" event and summarize what I want to include in reports and such in the notes. If I have multiple sources, say a couple of different books, I'll treat those as different sources in Legacy as well. However, if I find a collection of 35 cards/pages of military records (say from something like FootNote), then I bunch those into one source of "Compiled Military Service Records for XXX" or something like that. I realize you did say you wanted to treat each separately. But, that's just me, sounds like you have a need/desire to break them down more granular perhaps than I do.
