Barbara,
If all you want is just your spouse's line in the file then just unlink your
self from your spouse. Then create a new empty legacy file, then open a
split screen window, when it asks if you want to open another file in the
new window then pick the file that you just unlinked your self in. Make sure
you have created a backup of the old file first then find your spouse and
then drag him to the new file and you then should have a file with just his
lineage in the file. If you need to find out more on this just look in the
Legacy help files on splitting your database.

Mike, I want to remove everyone that is connected to me, other than my
spouse, whose line I have broken...but I can add that back into his line
easily...

I have my own records that are up to date in another file....all my line is
just extra baggage with 5000 records and I'd rather just remove them
all....all my ancestors, including my parents...and all the descendants of
my ancestors....so that all that is left is my spouse's line....it will just
take me a while to get with someone personally to show me how to do this..
If this was a PAF program, I could do it easily...

Question and/or description is confusing. If ancestral line then that's you
and
everyone that came before you, leaving your descendants. Or, did you mean to
remove you and your descendants from the tree? If so, break the link between
you
and your parents.
