Hmmmm, I don’t think I answered that question completely when I said I
format my sources to conform the the “Evidence Explained” standards (or
Chicago Manual of Style or whatever format you prefer).  I put the bulk of
the info found in a census records in the event notes.  Here is one I did
today...

Event/Fact: 1900 United States Federal Census
Description: population schedule
Date: 05 Jun 1900
Place: , Richmond County, Georgia, USA
[all of the above is the fill in the blank part of the event screen]

Augustus F. Morris, head, white, male, born Oct 1853, age 46, married,
married 25 years, born in GA, both parents born in GA, farmer, able to
read/write/speak English, rents, lives on a farm, #17 on farm schedule
Josephine A. Morris, wife, white, female, born Jan 1857, age 43, married,
married 25 years, mother of 1 child, 1 child living, born in GA, both
parents born in GA, able to read/write/speak English
William A. Morris, son, white, male, born Sep 1882, age 17, single, born in
GA, both parents born in GA, farmer, able to read/write/speak English

If I am writing a report, I don't use this but rather I will write it in
narrative form.  I am making this up on the fly but something similar to...

Augustus Morris, his wife Josephine, and their youngest son William were
living in Richmond Co, GA for the 1900 census.   [How is that for short and
sweet!]
