Are you both sure you didn't accidentally click on the box with the checkmark before "Prompt for Backups each time you exit Legacy"?
I made and edit and exited four times and each time I was prompted for backup. I clicked on Skip so didn't make the backup. Are you on build 7.5.0.89?
