Kirstin,

I was trying to test this bug to add it to our problem reporting system
so it could be fixed. I must not be following your steps because my file
name changes are sticking.

I used windows explorer to change the name of a picture linked to one of
the people in my file
I opened Legacy and then went to that person and opened the picture gallery.
Legacy, of course, reported that it could not find the picture and
offered to search for it.
I closed that window so the picture would show up with the Question mark
you mentioned below
When I double clicked on the picture with the question mark I again got
the screen offering to have Legacy search. When I chose the search for
the file yourself option and found the renamed file using the browser
that Legacy opened the renamed file did stick.

If I closed that search then there was no box I could see where I could
manually change the name of the file.
Can you give me more detailed step by step instructions on what you are
doing. Each button you click and each new screen that you use in order
would help me follow your process.
