Hi there. Thanks for your comments. I am still developing our system and trying to figure things out as well. I understand your need to be able to find your electronic files and keep them organized.
I guess where my system would differ from yours is that I set up considerably less different sources and place most of the details specific to the person in the source detail for the person, not in the master source record. I would consider naming a document for retrieval a different thing from naming a master source record. For example, I use a master source such as OBITUARY- Michigan and place all my Michigan obituaries under that one source. If I were to end up with too many, then I would consider breaking down by county, city, etc. But the complete details are provided and entered in the person's record anyway. Another example, I would not create a separate source record at the county level for the United States Federal Census, as someone else on the list does because I believe too many sources become unweildy and cumbersome. But I would include all the necessary detail in the source detail, which is a part of the person's record and not the source itself. But Legacy allows both appraches.
