I fully realised that - hence my statement that I would normally use the single
bar icon when I have already put information in the vital event fields and was
using a source to update only some of the fields. What I didn't realise was
that ALL, included all events AS WELL. In a way I agree with Jenny that it is
the placement of the icon that is confusing as it seems to be associated with
the vital events fields, whereas the additional events seem to be separate and
in some cases you can't even see all of the events without having to scroll
down. And logically, how often would one have a source that applied to EVERY
event listed, whereas having a source that applied to every field of vital
events, where all those fields are visible at the one time to me seems quite
likely. Mind you, if I had customised the individual view and changed one of
those events displayed to say, military service, then I would be unlikely to
have ever used the three bar icon to add a source.

Cheers
Jan

The Tool-tip for that icon states very clearly:

"Add Clipboard Source to All Used Fields and Events"
