Paul,

you say "
It would be so nice if we could create a single citation and then link it to
multiple people, fields and/or events."

I must be misunderstanding, because that is what I do using the Source
Clipboard.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Single Source Citation link to multiple People and
Events

I read with interest today's long thread on the source clipboard and the
'three bar icon' copying the source to all used fields/events. It does
emphasize the duplication of data inherent in the current Legacy database
design. If the data is identical from one source citation to another, an
argument can be made that it is by definition a single citation.

It would be so nice if we could create a single citation and then link it to
multiple people, fields and/or events.

I think a census entry provides a good example of where a single citation
linked to multiple people, fields, and events would be helpful. Let us say
one created a citation for an entire family from a census, and used that to
document residence, age and occupation for all family members.

Using a single citation which is then linked to multiple people/events, one
can explicitly see which individuals and events are related to that census
entry.

With the current design, one needs to look for 'identical', separate
citations.

Although it would probably require database changes and is therefore not
something we would see soon, I hope Legacy will consider it in a future
release.
