Mike, et. al. I would dislike this type of change, as it would preclude the ability to multi-source vital records and events as they are found to support your initial data entry. In my case, the first information I had on a lot of the people was from very old family group sheets that did not have complete information. But all the information that was there was sourced through the triple bar option. Subsequent research (years later on that particular line) supported the initial data, and added pieces like missing dates / locations and occupations, etc., from a better source document and I used the triple bar to mark all the new data entered and supported items like names and previously entered dates.

I suppose it's just about feasible that things could be arranged so that it could only be used once and only then on a new person. Create the new person and fill in all the details you have from the first source - along with events :-) Set up the source clipboard. Light the blue touch-paper and stand back and watch! Thereafter, the button becomes disabled for that person. For other people where the button has not been used, it can be disabled once a first source has been assigned to that person. Requires a small change to the database, but Legacy does this quite often. When the change is first used on a file, the program can run through the file disabling the button on all individuals and marriages that have at least one source. -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
