Turning off the switch does not completely remove all power until all the capacitors on the pcb's have had time to bleed down to 0 potential. Until then there is a very real possibility of RAM maintaining information that you really want flushed, hence the need to leave the power switch off for a few seconds. I also like to allow the HD to spin down. Don't know if that matters but it can't hurt. -- Gene Young Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
