Another thought, do some of the date ranges have spaces, and others not? The
fact is that in my one name study I use the detail search for the given name
and the place of birth as the secondary search, and in the search (name)
list they always list in dob order. If they did not I would be facing a
hopeless task.

Joan,

Where/how are you searching. If you use the Index tab and sort by surname
they are usually in order of dob.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Legacy searching

Hi!

When searching for a family name in Legacy, the names come in a random
date order.

Eg, I have just searched for individuals with the surname 'Linnell'
There are 15 'William Linnell's" in my tree, but in the search, their
dates are not listed chronologically by birth order
they start:
Linnell, William (1821-1880)
Linnell, William (1833-1837)
Linnell, William (1740-1779)
Linnell, William (1767-1832)
Linnell, William (1740-1817)
etc

How can I persuade Legacy to order similarly named individuals
chronologically?
in the above eg, listed by birth order:
Linnell, William (1740-1779) (earliest birth)
Linnell, William (1740-1817)
Linnell, William (1767-1832)
Linnell, William (1821-1880)
Linnell, William (1833-1837) (latest birth)

Many thanks

Joan
