I think that Legacy has great ease in splitting off family groups. I note that the obvious ones have not been mentioned in the current thread. 1) Advanced tagging: double click on one of the tags above either parent in the family screen, or go to 'Name List' and find Advanced tagging under 'Options', where you can choose ancestors or descendants by different criteria, or other choices 2) Drag and drop: in split screen, drag one of the parents to the other screen (maybe empty database) and chose from several options.
