Thanks Sherry, Re 1. - that's exactly what I did, but my usr settings haven't transferred - well, they seem to have transferred, but haven't 'stuck'. I'll try copying them over tomorrow, replacing them with the set of usr files I made a little while ago. Re 2. - Hmmm! Wonder what the problem is? I'll try installing again tomorrow. Could it be to do with the fact that I'm trying to install the free version of Passage Express that was offered some time ago? Re 3. - I discovered that as soon as I fired off the other email - looked at my desktop and saw the icon for Charting that not 5 minutes earlier I had moved to a new spot on the desktop. Duh! Cheers Jan

First of all - you need to install Legacy on the new computer, not just copy the complete folder over. Make sure you install it as per the isntructions on our website at www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/helpWindows7andVista.asp. The usr files are in the c:\Legacy folder. Those can be copied over after installing Legacy on the new machine. They hold your settings and preferences for reports, views, etc. The Legacy.usr file holds the main settings in Options > Customize and some other locations. A list of the usr files and what they're for can be found in the Help file in Legacy under "usr files" 2. Passage Express should run fine under 64-bit Win7. If you have problems with that program, you will need to contact their support by going to their website at http://www.passageexpress.com/support.php and filling out their web form. 3. Legacy Charting installs with Legacy. You don't need to install that separately. There are times when it does need to be reinstalled or installed separately if you don't have Legacy installed on your computer.
