I have struggled for years on this same subject - what needs to be shared with the family and how best to share it so that they will understand it and want to share the information with their own families. I am watching this thread with great interest. For now, I am settling for 'storybooks' emphasizing the family photos, simple pedigree charts and information and stories that would interest the non-genealogist. Hoping that will spark their interest and will later request more detailed information. Many of my family members from several different lines have requested that I put something together like this for them but they get lost in the things that we revel in haha! (Like those census and event data that you mentioned) I appreciate all of the comments and advice that is being given here very much!
