Okay, I double-checked, and the second column of radio button choices for query
by example DOES include one that says "Anywhere in field" ... not the same
wording as "Contains" in the detail search, but can be thought to mean the same
thing.  However, it does NOT work for dates.  Probably because dates are not
stored as dates but as some numeric value that is then interpreted for
display/print per your choices in Customize... right?

Because in Query by Example you can only search for a date : Before, Equal
or After.  There is no button for Contains.

Thx, Bert. I did try the other searches. Just wondered why the query by
example did not work. Maybe I was missing a setting?
