No, NFS is not set up to automatically incorporate sources from any family
history program or gedcom. You have no choice but to record sources in NFS
manually at this time. Lots of techy reasons and practical reasons for
this but that's the bottom line. Personally, I do record the sources in NFS
'sometimes'; mainly if I'm changing something that has been recorded
incorrectly or if I'm adding something new. But I make a very brief entry
just so someone looking will know that I do have sourcing information so
they can trust the information and they know if they contact me, they can
get more details. A lot of people don't give NFS (or other databases) a lot
of trust unless they see sources mentioned.

It would be nice if it transferred but that's a long way off and it's not
Legacy that needs to 'fix' it; it's on the NFS end. for now we should all
just be super grateful for all that NFS and the records search site provide
to all of us for FREE. I think their resources are better spent
transcribing and providing records than tweaking NFS capabilities for the
moment. I'm sure there will be a huge push to transcribe the 1940 census in
a couple months :-)
