*Try this:
1> Go to SEARCH » Find » Detailed Search tab, and fill them in this way:
2> Condition 1: look for whom? = Individual
3> Condition 1: Where to look? = Given Names
4> Condition 1: How to look? Contains
5> Condition 1: What to look for? Bill
6> Check mark the second condition, and activate the radio button OR
**7> Condition 2: look for whom? = Individual
8> Condition 2: Where to look? = Given Names
9> Condition 2: How to look? Contains
10> Condition 2: What to look for? Bill

This will look for "Bill" in both as part of the Given name, and also as
part of the Also known as (other names a person is known by). It gets
*both* in one swoop for you.  This was the easiest and fastest I could
find. Be sure to check the OR. "AND" won't work- AND will be looking for
people that have "Bill" in their name and also in their AKA.
