I agree with Bob. I have seen people use nicknames only used by the
individual's parents like "Buddy" or "Princess" as actual aka's. A nickname
to a few should not count. I know of a man who went by Honey. No one can
recall his real name because that is all they knew him by. THAT would be a
legitimate AKA. A name used in all instances except for legal documents or
legal signatures would also be a legit AKA. I know a woman only by Reni,
but her legal name is Beverly. She began using Reni when she became a
Christian so she says. At least some of her family still calls her Beverly,
but the rest of us only know her as Reni. Her bank checks use the name Reni
Beverly (and her last name), but she has never legally changed her name.
That would be a legit AKA. Look into purposes for the use for help in
knowing whether it is just a limited nickname or an AKA.

God bless,
Ellen

By The Way - don't go overboard w the A.K.A. (Also Known As) field. If
you try to come up with every possible combination of how they MAY have
been known, you will have a very long name list and will probably go
crazy trying to come up with all the combinations. I suggest you just
list the ones that you KNOW they were known as and any regular
nick-names they went by - do NOT try to put in every possible
combination of initials/names/etc.
