Derek,
Go to this site ( http://www.gedmagic.com/GEDxlate.htm )
and download the free program GEDxlate.
Export your Legacy file to a gedcom, open it with GEDxlate and you can
directly export what you want to an Excel spreadsheet.  I used it for
exactly what you are wanting to do and it works great.
