No, that's certainly not harsh, but the big reason I'm concerned about a huge number of locations in our master list is that we might have over 100,000 Merriam descendants and our goal is to get as many of them into one database as we possibly can. We have a long ways to go because we are only at 14,000 or so. Having multiple names for the same locations would make that difficult to wade through, that's all.
