As far as I know there is no way to show children as both the product of one marriage (or relationship) AND as the (adopted) product of another marriage unless you enter them into the database twice. Step-children can be shown as such under the marriage of their parent and step-parent and will not appear as descendants of the step-parent. An adopted child is generally considered to be as much part of the family as a blood-related child, so most people would want the to appear in Reports, albeit with the child status set to Adopted.
