Michele, This is just one answer of many I think you will get.
I take the ends of my pedegree tree and generate a focus group for each paternal end (could be maternal) I add that person and only their direct descendants. I end up with a list of Paternal ancestrors and their direct descendants. I save this as my direct descendant line focus group. I then create a list, which I then tag as Tag 1. I use Tag1 exclusively for my direct descendants. If I go back on any of my direct lines another generation, I modify my direct descendant group by first loading it then deleting the person from the previous generation and add the latest anestor in that line. Resaving the group. Every now and then I load that group and create a new list to add Tag1 to any new descandants. I will be interested if someone can show me a simpler way of achieving this. One use of this group is to export via gedcom to worldconnect less those still living. Another is to focus my priorities for any future research.
