More exploration resolved the problem.  The general Marriage Wording was
OK, but on the individual problem marriages, for some reason, the
override was being used.  I don't think I ever noticed the "Wording
Options" tab on the "Marriage Information" screen before.

Sorry if I caused anyone to interrupt their research.  I'll go back to
mine now.
