It is the way the sources are cited on the gedcom that is part of the problem.
If copied and pasted into the Legacy database, there is no problem. Also, it is
the records that are transcribed, often incorrectly. Having the image available
is a great addition and it should always be checked when it is there. Errors in
the transcription are often found. (Not surprising, I make errors in my own
transcriptions unless I'm extra careful; and I'm doing it out of "love" not
having to transcribe who knows how many records that aren't my own.

The image often shows more detail about location and often the location entered
into your family tree is incomplete. For example there are sometimes just
addresses that show up in your source, not towns/counties/province/country.
That can be corrected also, best before downloading a gedcom from your own
ancestry tree.

There could definitely be great improvement in the way ancestry transfers its
data to your tree (your ancestry tree). The only time there is a problem with
the data from other trees is when you choose to use that data. There are plenty
of sources without using the other family trees.

I have found a wealth of information. Just wish ancestry would put out a better
gedcom, more careful details to import into Legacy. The way it is it's twice
the work. Finding the records and then getting them into Legacy the copy paste
way.
