I tend not to get hung up on the “correct” way to list a source, since I am
primarily sourcing for me so I know where I got something from. However, when
I source anything from Ancestry, and want to create a new source for a
particular record type, I copy and paste the source information from Ancestry
itself. For record type I use what is nominated by Ancestry. In just about
every case it says [online database], so that is what I use.

People may disagree with me on this one but it if is an IMAGE of something I
cite the original source. If it is an INDEX I cite the database.

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Attach every City Directory scan??

Well, I'm now wondering if my question was a mute point. I just realized the
people I'm finding in city directories on Ancestry.com are from the US City
Directories 1821-1989 database. So I guess in actuality *the database* is my
main source. But I should still attach the image (title pg + pg found) to the
individual, right?

Sometimes I do get confused on how to set up my sources in Legacy when I'm
sourcing from Ancestry.com - not sure which is the main source, that website or
the image/item that I found!
