Roy, My reply pertains to *Windows XP* and *Firefox*, but my experience may be useful to you. In XP, I am every now and then informed that Firefox is running when I thought I had closed it out. I then go to "Windows Task Manager" and click on Processes. I find Firefox listed as running, highlight it, and click on End Process. Then I can reopen Firefox. Arnold
