I not only have a backup drive in my safety deposit box, but one at my daughters house, rotated less frerquently, and I take an extra drive in the car with me when ever I go somewhere. I have two extra external drives at home that I keep updated (not counting the one I take in the car when I leave the house). Makes it easy to bring them up to date and take to the off site places to rotate. After losing a years worth of work once because three "verified" sets of tape drive backups turned out to be corrupted, I take every step I can think of short of using DVD backups (would take a roomful) or a cloud backup (would take a month or more to upload and cost $$).
Think of the irreplacable material on your computer and the hundreds of hours of work in Legacy. You can't be too careful. At this point I think the hard drives in various places gives me the most peace of mind. >________________________________ > From: Tim Rosenlöf <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Sent: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 9:08 AM >Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Location for LEGACY Multimedia folders > > >On 6/12/2012 7:20 PM, Jackie King wrote: >> As the victim of some flooding a couple of years ago - I will never >> trust an external drive as backup unless i were driving it offsite >> every night.
