Check/Repair did not solve the problem, although it was worth trying.  Thank you, Bobby.
Ron and others - do you know of a way that I can pinpoint the file name that is too long?  I have recently linked MANY pictures to this family file, so I guess that the name of one or more of them is too long.  Interesting that no error message was displayed when I linked the pictures...
Thank you in advance!

Lisa,

Check repair, as suggested by Bobby, is worth trying, however this is not a Legacy error. The Access error with this number indicates that it may be due to a file name being too long (> 100 characters), or suggests compressing the file.

How are you trying to back up – using the Legacy multi-media backup, so some other way?

Subject: [LegacyUG] error 3163

Dear Legacy Users:
Can anyone advise me as to how I should procede after receiving this error message?

Error checking Picture and Sound File Locations.

Error 3163: The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add.  Try inserting or pasting less data.

I received this error message as I was making a back up.  I did not receive it as I was attaching my pictures.  I do not have any sould files. I have searched through the LUG archives, but did not find a solution.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
