Lisa, Firstly, JLB is correct when reminding us that the path should also be taken into consideration, this can be long eg. C\Users\Documents\Public Documents\Pictures\... BTW. I previously asked how you are backing the images up, as this may help finding an answer.
If you are using Win 7 o/s then when in your picture directory (folder) use View>List to get a list of just the file names, and you can easily spot the long ones - do not forget that you will need to relink them in Legacy is you change the name! If you have a different o/s and can see how to list the file names please come back to us with the details. Are they sub-folders of one folder? If I was trying to track it down, I would use either Directory List & Print or Bulk Rename Utility, both free and both able to give you a listing of folders and sub-folders and the long-names would stand out in either. It's not their fundamental purpose but with a little understanding, either would produce the desired result. --- JL Beeken JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://www.jgen.ws/jlog/ On 6/17/2012 10:17 AM, [email protected] wrote: > Check/Repair did not solve the problem, although it was worth trying. > Thank you, Bobby. > Ron and others - do you know of a way that I can pinpoint the file name > that is too long?
