To be honest, I don't! That is, I don’t make any distinction. I have a few images that were originally TIFF format, and I have just re-saved them as JPG for use in Legacy, but they are all in the same folder. i.e. I have a Genealogy Scans Folder which contains a folder for each main family surname, which contains sub-folders for individuals within that family and / or sub-folders for collateral families within that family. (If that makes sense.) Most of my images are scans that I have been sent, or that I have downloaded from the web, so I have no choice over format, size etc. Where I have had access to originals (documents or photos)I have usually just scanned as JPG. If I was starting again I might have scanned them as TIFF and resaved as JPG but maybe I wouldn't. I don't get hung up on how I store my images - the way I do it works for me, and anyone coming after me can make what they will of my filing system. I know my daughter will be interested enough to keep my work, but I doubt there will be anyone who will want to continue it. I do this as my hobby, and have no intention of publishing in any form that would require 'quality' image files. The one exception is a photograph found on the web (out of copyright) of a sailing ship my great grandfather captained and my grandfather later crewed and which I was able to download as a high quality TIFF to enable printing as poster size. In all other cases my JPG images have been sufficient.

Jan, thanks and thanks to others who have responded kindly. My question remains, how do you organize your large images given they are the "source" for your smaller Legacy images?
