Hi Ian

There is. The program is called “GenViewer”. It reads your Legacy file directly
without exporting to a gedcom. You can get a free version from
MudcreekSoftware.com.

Hi All,

Firstly thanks everyone for your suggestions, the input was really appreciated.

Turns out that PAF imports the gedcom accurately enough that I can at least
read the info in paf while transcribing to Legacy so for now that’s the plan.

I am amazed at just how many of the genie programs cannot accurately & fully
import a 5.5 gedcom, anyway that’s another story. The whole exercise also
reminded me of why I went with Legacy in the first place and then purchased the
deluxe edition plus a number of add-ons, manuals, etc. Legacy really is the
best of the bunch for me despite a couple of minor annoyances like not being
able to run 2 copies.

Long term I think there’s an opportunity for someone to produce a Legacy Reader.

Cheers

Ian G
