Sally, Another well known genealogy program did something very similar when they released their version 8.0. Based on requests from a "handful" of users, they made a change to how the program handled "witnesses". The developer gave no thought to how some users had been using the witness feature for quite awhile. This change caused a lot of headaches for quite a few users of the program.
