There shouldn't be any problems moving the family file from a normal drive to an encrypted one. It's only a copy but the result is encrypted. After copying the FDB you can open it on the new location with a little loss of speed due to the encryption/decryption.
The major problem is what about a backup of your family file. There are two possibilities. 1. the most probable. Your encrypted drive crashes. 2. you die, which I hope only in a far future, and nobody knows your passwords. Then you have the result of many years of work nobody can use. Why put the cart before the horse. Perhaps you should describe your reasons for encryption and which windows you're using. Legacy Users Group, I have a question on running Legacy on an encrypted hard drive. I have 2 hard drives on my the computer. The second drives has a encrypted section that is called out as a separate drive. I would like to move my Legacy family information to the encrypted drive. Can I do that and if I can, how? Can I just move the 'Data' subdirectory to the encrypted drive? Has anyone ever tried it?
