Mike, As soon as a copy is made to a drive without encryption it's a decrypted file an thus the encryption is unnecessary.
You're right about the backup. That's very important but when backuping you should include all. Includiung the multimedia. If you don't some information which could be important in the future will be lost. I make at least once a year a complete backup on a DVD-RW once a year and give a person I trust. That way the work of only one year could be lost. BTW. I have a copy of my passwords not only in a safe deposit box and in my will a person of my trust will get the right to open this. Can I just move the 'Data' > subdirectory to the encrypted drive? Has anyone ever tried it? What's wrong with copying your FDB file from its' current location to somewhere on the other drive? Then, open the file in its' new location with Legacy. Of course, change the options on the General tab of the Customise window, so Legacy opens the last used family file automatically. Alternatively. Make a backup. Include everything except multimedia stuff. Then, unzip the backup into a location on the other drive.
