I was going through old LUG messages while cleaning out my in boxes. I
see in the Archives that you never received a reply to this question.

The event clipboard is not the same as the source clipboard. When you
set up an event clipboard entry Legacy creates a temporary pointer to
the selected event. It does NOT make a copy it simply records the index
value for the event in the event table. This pointer is only temporary
and is not remembered when Legacy closes. The advantage of this method
is that when you paste the event you also paste all the source
information linked to the event so you do not have to reattach sources
to a pasted event.

This behaviour does mean that if you delete the event which is on the
event clipboard you can no longer paste that event since the pointer no
longer points to an existing event.
