Charani, You are quite correct, Legacy is, like all programs of this type concerned with individuals, their interpersonal relationships and events in their lives. Much of what you say applies to One-Name Studies albeit in a different context, as you will know.
In addition to the personal data which I publish, I have an awful lot of other data relating to the Fergusons which is held in databases on my PC, where appropriate this data is referenced to individuals in the family trees, i.e. those recorded in Legacy. Ultimately it will probably all be lodged with GOONS (The Guild of One-Name Studies), but before then I'm hoping that at least some of it will be published (not just the names, they already are) - I'm certainly not ready for that at present. My One Place Study developed out of my being the Online Parish Clerk for Walton (and other parishes) which came about because I was tracing a family in the village that intermarried with a number of other families which in turn intermarried with others. End result a village almost related to itself :)) I can use Legacy for the families and I can make notes about various individuals. What I can't do (unless someone knows otherwise) is add, for instance the Guardians of the Poor Account Books which can be a wonderful window on the past. I can add details of the payments made to various villagers but not every entry refers to a villager. Some refer to the general care of the village or to the maintenance of a child by the alleged father where neither the child nor the mother are named but the father did a runner after making a couple of payments. The entry refers to the cost of tracking the father down and taking him to court. I don't know how to show the sale of the village when the owner and landlord was non-resident. Then there's the incumbent who gave details of a suicide that didn't take place in the village and the deceased wasn't a villager nor was he buried in the village. I have a site which is going to be the home for all the transcripts I've done which will incorporate a history of the village with links (eventually) from individuals to their stories. Legacy will be able to keep track of the families and the events in their lives but not the story of the actual village itself unless I treat it as a person in its own right.
