The reason mailing lists don't allow images (or HTML/RTF) is that viruses can be embedded into them. 99% of people will be decent, honest folk who won't do anything to spoil the pleasure we get from our hobby, despite or may because of the headaches. Unfortunately there is that 1% who either don't have good security or are spoilers who delight in being - well, spoilers. As with so much in life it's the minority who spoil it for the majority. Hence the no images rule. Stone aged it may be but for everyone's safety, it has to be thus until there is a way to quickly scan images for malicious coding. My lists are strictly no images and no HTML/RTF - and I enforce it. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
