Pages 153-155 from Evidence Explained, by Elizabeth Shown Mills, addresses
this. You can open the Source Writer in Legacy and when you go to add a new
master source- type one of the above page numbers in the box, "What kind of
source do you want to cite?" and it will bring up the correct template.
Basically, what matters is what format the personal knowledge came to you in;
an email, correspondence. Section 3.43 on page 155 more fully describes what
you are asking. So if you type in either 3.43 or 155 you will get what you
want.

  Subject: [LegacyUG] documentation question

  When the information comes from someone who has first hand knowledge of an
occurrence, how does one site the source?
  For example. I no longer have my children's birth certificates in my
possession but I know for sure the particulars of their births. Same for my
grandchildren. I was there even though I don't have the paper trail to prove
it.
