I put None for the given name and CHILD ADOPTED in the surname field, in a similar situation. In the place of marriage field I specified Single adoptive parent. I would also prefer not to have an unknown spouse where there is no known father because the child is illegitimate. The mother might have been in a relationship and been left holding the baby (literally) but she might have been the victim of rape by a stranger in which case "spouse" is inappropriate. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
