The cases you are talking about all have 2 parents, even if sometimes we don't 
wish to record one of them.  The case I described only has 1 parent.  The best 
solution I have found so far is to enter "Adopted by Single Parent" in the 
spouse record to make it clear that there will not be a second parent/spouse 
found for the marriage record.  I might also mark that fictional person as 
"private" and "invisible" but other than those procedures, there is no method 
in the Legacy database tables to record these single parent adoptions.
