Well, you could have more than one flash-drive. They can be flaky so
it's not a great choice but if you have a few it might work. I prefer
external hard-drives. Some people don't. You could get a free Amazon
Cloud account and back up to there. As the discussion has gotten to,
people don't recommend using your files FROM the cloud but it can used
to make backups. Dropbox, SugarSync, Google Drive, Windows SkyDrive.
There's lots of them and you could probably get enough space for your
needs for free. In fact, with a small database, you could email your
backup file to GMail periodically and leave it there.

Syncback is a program that's used to automate the backup process. I
highly recommend it. It's really not hard to use. And there's a free
version that's plenty.

I use Synback to back up from my desktop computer to an external HD and
then use the hard-drive and Syncback to back up to my laptop that I
hardly ever use except as another backup drive.
